CyberComet Reflections: One School’s Response to Online Learning
Click here to learn more about the book Dr. Jen Mott wrote WITH students she had met while working with them as online middle school students during the 2020-21 school year. Then, during their in-person senior year of high school, 2025-26, they published this book all about their experiences in both settings.
CyberComet Reflections: One School’s Response to Online Learning is a collaborative project by multiple students and staff in a school district in Southwest Ohio. After COVID-19 disrupted education everywhere, this group was brought together to create their own little safe and fun corner of the internet to learn, grow, and navigate an unexpected school year together.
This story is their own – reflections from the 2020-21 school year that seemingly changed everything all the way to the 2025-26 year once everything was back to “normal” and the students were seniors in high school about to graduate.
The juxtaposition of their online middle school and in-person high school experiences are highlighted here as well as takeaways for students, staff, and school leaders everywhere for how to handle adversity and choose a response that yields a positive outcome in the face of any challenge that comes.
